BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (HONS)

 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Hons) is a 4-year homegrown programme offered by School of Nursing, KPJ Healthcare University College, Nilai Negeri Sembilan. It obtained an approval from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) on 24 October 2013 and the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) on 3 February 2014. The structure of the curriculum was guided by the Standard and Guidelines of the Nursing Board of Malaysia. The total number of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Hons) credit is 138.

The programme incorporates a substantial amount of campus-based theoretical and guided clinical practice in the KPJ Group of Hospitals. Nursing students at KPJUC are privileged to have an extensive and comprehensive network of KPJ hospitals located in most major cities in Malaysia, to be the training grounds for excellent clinical education. Graduates of KPJUC will be recognized for their clinical distinction, and providing best service value to patients/customers.

FUTURE CAREER

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Hons) programme has been designed to prepare nurses for entry-level professional practice. The program structure enables the nursing graduates to be prepared for all types of hospital setting. Upon successful completion of the programme, students are eligible to sit for the Malaysian Nursing Board Examination to be licensed to practise as a Registered Nurse.

By obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Hons), the opportunities for future enhancement to the level of Masters and Post Graduate Doctorate creates an employment field which is vast and varied such as the Nurse Manager, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Researchers and Educators in Institutions of Higher Learning.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 
  • Pass STPM or its equivalents CGPA 2.50 (for Art Stream students – credits in Mathematics and Science at SOPM Level); or
  • Matriculation with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; or
  • Foundation Programmed with a minimum CGPA 3.00; and
  • Pass in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
